A/N: To catch the story up: Dante and Nero chased Nevan/Maria for a couple of weeks. It quickly became apparent that they were not engaging in random acts of brutality, but were looking for something. What, exactly, neither devil hunter had the time to figure out, because wherever the not-fully-integrated duo went, slavishly devoted demonic entities followed. There were also times when it seemed that Maria was trying to do something without Nevan's approval, like going back to Dante's shop to get her weapon back. It was during one of those times that Nero managed to get a message to Maria via her Net connection, trying to tell her that she was safe with him. The results of this were unknown until the final showdown, when Nevan/Maria found a place where they could gather power to rip open a portal to whichever particular Hell Nevan came from. Dante and Nero battled a demonic army, but it was Maria who decided to kill her guards which allowed Dante to run her through and break their bond. Unfortunately, the portal was already open, and Maria was very nearly destroyed by the backlash. Nevan escaped through the portal, and Dante gave chase. Nero tended to Maria, learning what had to be done to close the connection, then left her with her laser scythe and a reason to live despite her burned-away eyes and burnt bridges.

Writers of this community are promised to have control over their story lines. As long as things are kept realistic, the mod(s) will not worry about how much of whatever is going around; especially considering this is a city wide based game. If things get out of hand, the game will address the issue(s) as a whole then. Members of this community have a voice with us and their opinions and suggestions are always validated and taken into high consideration. With the recent economic downturn there are a lot of businesses that are in trouble out there. They can't get loans to pay their bills, and are unable to keep running in the red. It seems that even the site that started all of this, LiveJournal, has been having problems. I want to write here in this space to let you know that IJ isn't going anywhere. And we are able to handle another influx of users if that needs to happen.

I have always taken pride in being able to keep this site running in the black. And between the ads that run on the site and the various paid accounts and rename tokens that all of you continue to purchase, we are able to stay that way. We do not have any debt to pay off nor do we have any investors that we need to keep happy. While we have felt this economic downturn ourselves, we are only affected in that we are unable to keep building a cash reserve, but we are still able to pay the bills every month.

Hopefully this will reassure you that we are not going anywhere, and I have no intention of shutting down or reducing the services on InsaneJournal at any point in the foreseeable future.

Dante watches with suspicion, but tells himself that he could handle anything that might go wrong. Finally, the day comes that he's been waiting for: Nero is on-planet again and desperately wants to meet his wayward descendant. Dante goes to bring him to the shop, leaving Maria with only a stern, “Stay here!” She immediately envisions a fearful and painful future, and, with Nevan's subtle encouragement, hacks into his computer.
